Born in Belem, in the Amazon Region of Brazil, Diego started to play the cello and the piano  at the age of 12. His classical music training has been influenced by the Brazilian traditional artistic styles. At the age of 16, he gave his debut concert at the Cecilia Meirelles' Hall, in Rio de Janeiro, with a live recording of the Haydn C major Cello Concerto, after receiving a Jovem Solista da Petrobras Orchestra prize.

He studied in Brazil at the “Escola de Musica Universidade do Para”, “Conservatorio Carlos Gomes”, “Conservatorio Dramatico e Musical de Tatui”.In the USA at Columbia Missouri University under the guidance of Darry Dolezal. In England, at the Trinity College of Music, where he obtained a BMus, two Pg Diplomas, and also the Fellowship Trinity College London. the guidance of Prof. Richard Markson. He has attended master classes with cellists Collin Car, Geringas, Bernard Greenhouse who supported him many years, David Geringas, Arto Noras, Maud Tortellier, Francoi Guye, Reihard Latzko, Valter Despalj, Leonid Gorokhov, and Alexander Baillie.

Over the years, Diego has appeared frequently as soloist and chamber music performer in a number of international music festivals. He obtained several prizes and awards from the University of Columbia - Missouri USA, Trinity College of Music, Vitae Foundation, Leo To Teixeira, the Solti Foundation, the Tillett Trust, the Myra Hess Trust, the Richard Carne Foundation, the Leonardo Smith Duo Competition, the Barbirolli Award, 'Solo Emerging Artist' competition, Duche D'acua Viva prize, among others.

In 2004 he participated in the documentary 'The Music of the Rain Forest' for BBC Radio 4. He also produced a documentary entitled "Amazonia, the Resounding Jungle" which reflects his contact with Amazonian nature and the artistic movements from that region.

In 2006 Diego appeared as soloist in the London Promenade concert at the Royal Albert Hall. In the same year, he joined the 'Live Music Now' scheme. Diego begun his studies in Clinical Hypnoses at The London Clinical Hypnoses linked to the Thames Valley University, in order to explore the bridge between music and the unconscious mind, applying to learning and teaching.


Currently, he is obtaining his Masters Degree at the Conservatoire of Lausanne under the guidance of Prof. Marcio Carneiro.

He has also founded the AmaZonArt charitable body, which brings international artists together for supporting educational and social projects mainly in the Amazonian Region of Brazil, with the purpose of using art as a vehicle of social inclusion and dissemination of beauty through charity.
